Carnaval

    1. Carnaval is a celebration that begins on Fat Tuesday, which can be in the months of February or March.
    2. Carnaval is celebrated for a week. There are no classes during this week.
    3. Some characteristics of the celebration are wearing masks and costumes, dancing, and eating rich foods.
    4. There are costume parades in many cities.

 

Don Quijote

    1. Don Quijote is a famous book from Spain written by Miguel Cervantes.
    2. The main characters are Don Quijote and Sancho Pancho.
    3. Don Quijote wrote too many fiction books and believed that he could become a knight.
    4. Some of his adventures included attacking a windmill, monks and a lion.

 

La Navidad y Dia de los Tres Reyes

  1. Christmas in Spain is more of a religious holiday. Most Spaniards go to church on Christmas Eve and have a nacimiento (nativity scene) in their homes during this season.
  2. Santa Claus looks a lot like a king because of the belief that the three kings from the bible story bring their gifts to children on Three Kings Day.
  3. Children will go to a parade to see the three kings arrive and then return home and put out straw for the animals and their shoes to be filled with candy.
